Natural Diamonds Ruled the Red Carpet at Elle Magazine’s Women in Hollywood Party

Diamonds ruled the red carpet at Monday’s Elle magazine Women in Hollywood event, where some of tinseltown’s finest came out to support women and the accomplishments and barriers they’ve broken in the industry and will continue to break. 2017 honorees Jennifer Lawrence, Margot Robbie, Laura Dern, Tessa Thompson, Jessica Chastain, Cicely Tyson, Riley Keough and Kathleen Kennedy were all in attendance, as were other A-listers including Reese Witherspoon, Shonda Rhimes, Nina Dobrev, and Kristen Stewart.

As the celebs made their way down the red carpet, many gushed about their love of diamonds and told Elle why these precious gemstones are so special to them and symbolic of the important moments—both professional and personal—in their lives. The stars also shared with Elle what—in a town known for make-believe—makes them real, rare and authentic, just like a diamond. Watch the video highlights below:

In light of the recent news in Hollywood in the past couple weeks, it seemed that the Women in Hollywood event could not have come at a better time this year. The evening’s standout speeches all touched on female empowerment, gender equality, and using celebrity power for good.

In one of the night’s most incredible moments, Diane Ladd introduced her former co-star Jennifer Lawrence, calling her a “diamond”—and we would have to strongly agree! “All those being honored tonight are diamonds. They have gifts that are unimaginable in this world,” she said.

Speaking of diamonds…there were plenty of those in the Four Seasons Beverly Hills ballroom as well. J.Law opted for a vintage crescent moon diamond necklace from Platt Boutique Jewelry, while Shonda Rhimes, Maryann Brandon, and Hong Chau all dazzled in De Beers. Alessandra Ambrosio sparkled in Djula Jewelry and Vanessa Hudgens took her ring (and arm) stack game to new levels clad in Sara Weinstock, Graziela Gems, Effy, and EF Collection. Laura Dern wore diamond earrings and rings by Neil Lane.
